It's not just paddling, nice understanding and explanation of the technique. Great for sculpture too. On a larger scale with extruded drain and chimney tile you can really fell and see it happening.

What the hell is it with these ceramic arts network videos. They cut the project always leaving you hanging. Finish the damn project and give complete information instead of these constant half ass videos

I’ve worked with clay for close to 30 years. I took 4 years of ceramics related coursework in college. And I learned more about glazes and glazing in a 2-day John Britt workshop in my local community studio than in all those other years of classes combined. This man is a glaze genius. Amazing.

Did my headphones just break, or is your sound wonky? I'm only getting it in the left speaker. Was this not recorded on in stereo? Just tried another video. Nope...it's you, lol! Might wanna fix the sound, if possible. Listening to lop-sided sound is an awful experience.

Great video, we did this in my adult ed class today, my tutor showed the technique and as I'd just thrown a small vase, she asked if I could do it to, we added slip first, dried it, added the sodium silicone, dried that, then I cut some lines using a needle tool and added and dried another layer, the slowly stretched it out. For a first attempt, ,I was really pleased, gentlemen thankyou for sharing😊

Slip is natural. Glaze is not due to its chemical composition

If you took your beautiful flame pieces and in the center at the inside base, you placed something significant, you would get a wonderful pairing of juxtaposed elements. For instance, the center could be jewel-like or it could be a figure like a Firebird. If you think about your own experience with fire or historical references to fire, you could come up with some dynamic elements to place there.
